Barn Conversion In A Conservation Context

Barn Conversion In A Conservation Context

Part of our work at Thinking Buildings involves working with large estates. Currently in planning we have a proposal for a conversion of an existing barn on an estate in Aylesbury. The barn lies within the curtilage of the Grade II listed manor house, and is proposed to be a three-bed property for use as a rental by the estate.
The original brick and timber structure is to be retained, and existing openings are to be glass, filling the double height space to the open plan living with exposed beams showcasing the character of the building. This project demonstrates design in a sympathetic manner, taking the location and distance to the listed building into consideration, whilst fitting into the surrounding estate seamlessly.
