In April this year, permitted development rights for the conversion of agricultural buildings into housing have been amended and made clearer. Permitted development can be undertaken without planning permission if certain requirements are met. The new Class Q has replaced the old Class MB, and the requirements are significantly less stringent.
Thinking Buildings began the design for a conversion project of this nature in September
Development under Class Q is permitted if;
- The floor space of the development is under 450m
- The number of new homes is under 3 dwellings
- The land is not part of an agricultural tenancy
- The development does not exceed the external footprint of the existing agricultural building.
