At Thinking Buildings our aim is to design solutions that are appropriate to context and planning constraints. This project, currently submitted for planning approval, is located in the Hook Norton Conservation area in a sensitive edge of village site. The design response is traditional in overall character and architectural form although the detailing, gutters and joinery will have a more contemporary aesthetic. The replacement houses seeks to significantly expand the amount of accommodation on the site to create a fantastic family home, including an out-building that provides garaging, garden workshop and a further residential annexe. This project shows the importance of sensitively designing to suit the specific context and project brief rather than having preconceived ideas of architectural style or current fashion. Let’s hope this approach results in planning consent being granted.
