New “floating floor” in listed building

Thinking Buildings are currently working to explore how a Grade II listed dilapidated and redundant former Battery House building can be bought back into sustainable use.

The scheme involves full restoration and conversion of the building into residential accommodation. The design approach is to introduce a new slim zinc roofed element between the existing pitched roofs to open up the inside, giving more head-height and allowing for a new mezzanine floor which will float over the living area below on steel hangers.
