Planning Approval For New House In Conservation Area

The Thinking Buildings team do get asked to advise on projects in more difficult or challenging situations where our experience can help.

We’ve been working with a client in Derbyshire, who has previously been refused planning permission on a scheme for a new dwelling. We were asked if we could review the previous scheme and work with them to develop a design which would be more appropriate and likely to be approved by the planning department. The site is in a Conservation Area and an area of high landscape value.

The final scheme is quite traditional in design but incorporates a timber-framed element to the rear of the property. This enables a light modern opening living/dining/kitchen area for family living, with a balcony to a master suite over. A mixture of traditional stone and timber frame, but conceived in a more modern way to provide a light and airy family home.
