This is one of our more unusual projects, involving the design, interior fit out and remodelling of an existing river boat on the Thames in London.
To begin the design process Thinking Buildings commissioned a full 3D laser survey of the boat to provide detailed mapping of the complex shape and layout of the boat, and we worked with Lamburn & Geekie contractors and the client to reconfigure the existing layout to create a sumptuous, comfortable and stylish interior to accommodate up to 8 people.
A new external deck has been added on the top of the boat, accessed from a new dining area with lovely views over the surrounding Thames. Below deck there are two double bedrooms, a shared bunk room for 4, two bathrooms, and a large open plan kitchen, dining and living area over which a new rooflight has been added to introduce generous daylight into the lower level. One of the more interesting areas of the boat is the boomerang shaped hull that has been converted into a below deck entertainment room, with built in bespoke shaped seating that also double as an extra bed space. The client has skillfully furnished the boat to create a very stylish, chic and unique living environment.
This really interesting project is complete and the boat is currently being used as a holiday let.
