Used everywhere, acronyms can leave people guessing what they mean.
We’re currently looking at a new eco-home, with the possibility of using a PV-T system. What is PV-T you might ask. Photovoltaic Thermal, simple?
This is a new type of hybrid panel which combines PV (photovoltaic) which generates electricity and solar thermal collectors which produces heat. The panels generate heat and power from a single unit. PV and solar thermal both work best when kept cool, which results in better efficiency. PV-T cools down the PV element using a circuit of fluid and the heat is then transferred into the hot water tank. This has the potential to be very efficient.
