What is an Air Source Heat Pump?

An air source heat pump (ASHP) looks similar to an air conditioning unit and is usually placed outdoors at the side or back of your property. The pump needs electricity to run, but will use less electrical energy than the heat energy it produces. The system works by absorbing heat from the outside air, and raising its temperature sufficiently so that it can be used for space heating and/or hot water.
