You may have noticed we tend to harp on about BIM (Building Information Modelling). For many, this won’t mean anything, but to us this has changed our world.
Architecture has changed over the years. We started out on drawings boards, but most of these have gone now. Sure, you’ll find a few out there still, but Computer Aided Design (CAD) is now the new master. For us, we took the next step. This was around 5 years ago and we’ve never looked back. BIM is the next evolution and so much better than CAD. It’s still CAD, but where we previously generated individual drawings, we now model the entire building (and site if necessary) in our computers and the drawings are produced directly from the model.
It’s quite complicated software, so we spend a considerable time teaching new team members and running ongoing BIM days (as we call them). Around 2 to 3 times a year we get everyone together to review our BIM capabilities and to teach new best practice techniques. This way we can help ensure everyone is working in the best possible way and we can deliver consistent quality drawings (and models) for our clients.
