Located at the heart of the Leicester University campus, the Percy Gee Building is a key part of the wider re-development of the university’s students union and campus services. This exciting multi million pound development including a food court, breakout and social space delivering a unique mix of six different food and drink vendors: ‘Craft’ coffee house, ‘Wholesome’ vegan food, ‘AstroVan’ dirty-chips, ‘Queens’ pizza and pasta, ‘New York Deli’ sandwiches, and ‘Soul’ Caribbean food.

Appointed by Stepnell contractors to help deliver the Contractors Design Portion, Thinking Buildings managed the co-ordination and technical design development of the complex fit out package. Working in conjunction with their wider supply chain, including the kitchen, furniture, lighting and signage specialists, the design of each vendor space was unique, to create the different “personalities” of each catering option. The floor and wall finishes, along with the feature lighting and bespoke illuminated signage, was designed to reflect the cuisine offering and branding developed in conjunction with the Leicester University team.
