Thinking Buildings were appointed by Gloucestershire County Council to carry out a Premises Development Plan (PDP) for Fairford CE Primary School, looking at expanding from 1 Form Entry (1FE) to 1.5 FE and 2FE in a phased redevelopment prompted by an increase in housing in the local area.
The PDP study led to a proposal to build a new wing to the school providing a new hall and classrooms, with a new administration and entrance area linking the proposed wing and the existing building. The design anticipated the initial construction of four classrooms in the first phase to provide 1.5FE accommodation, with a planned second phase of a further four classrooms to provide 2FE capacity as local demand for school places grows.
Thinking Buildings successfully obtained planning permission on behalf of GCC for the first phase of the works in 2018, and construction was completed in summer 2019 in time for the start of the September term.
